A second person has died as a result of a three-vehicle head-on crash more than a month ago in Iroqouis County.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said that Michael Strong, 56, of Watseka, has died from complications related to traumatic injuries he received in a crash on the evening of Oct.

Northrup said that Mr. Strong was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. Saturday. No autopsy will be performed, but an inquest may be held at a later date.

According to state police reports, the crash took place at 4:05 p.m. Oct. 17 on U.S. 24 at County Road 3190 near Effner, near the Indiana border.

Police said Patricia J. Allford, 70, of Sheldon was traveling eastbound behind a 2014 Freightliner semi-truck driven by Daniel D. Morgan, 53, of Terre Haute, Ind.

Police said Allford was trying to pass the semi when she crashed head on into a 2003 silver GMC van driven by Howard R. Kissack, 82, of Watseka, which was heading westbound.

Both vehicles then smashed into the rear of the semi.

Mr. Strong was a passenger in Kissick's vehicle. He was airlifted to Carle, where he remained until his death.
