Pleasant Hill, CA : Two suffer minor injuries in I-680 multicar crash on Monday morning, August 8, 2016

Several cars were involved in a crash Monday morning that prompted a severe traffic alert on Interstate 680, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 6:53 a.m., in the northbound direction at the Treat Boulevard exit, and involved at least three cars, according to the CHP.

Ambulances were called to the scene, and the CHP said two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The CHP issued a Sig Alert for severe traffic at 7:06 a.m., because the three left lanes of I-680 were blocked. One lane was opened around 7:15, but the CHP did not have an estimate for when the alert would be lifted.

Details of what caused the crash were not available

The alert was lifted just before 7:45 a.m., a CHP officer said.
