Somerset, PA : Police identify drivers from Route 30 crash on Friday August 26, 2016

State police have identified the drivers from a two-vehicle accident that closed Route 30 near Stoystown for nearly six hours Friday.

Christopher B. Mullen, 45, of Stoystown, and David A. Dotson, 52, of East Sparta, Ohio, both sustained major injuries, according to police.

Dotson’s passengers, a 15-year-old boy from East Sparta and a 13-year-old boy from Magnolia, Ohio, suffered minor injuries.

Mullen and Dotson were transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. Both were still hospitalized Wednesday in fair condition, according to a nursing supervisor.

Police said Mullen was traveling west on Route 30 and Dotson was traveling east when Mullen’s pickup truck crossed the center line for an unknown reason and collided with Dotson’s minivan.

Both vehicles sustained major damage.

Mullen was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

The accident took place at 2:16 p.m. Route 30 was closed until 8 p.m. as firefighters cleaned up debris and state police investigated.

Stoystown Fire Chief David Johnson said Dotson and his passengers were part of a Boy Scout troop that was planning to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial in Stonycreek Township before traveling to Gettysburg.
