2 killed in wrong-way crash on Loop 202 in Tempe

Police said a motorist accused of hitting and killing two people while driving into oncoming Loop 202 traffic Saturday morning was inebriated at the time of the collision.Maikil Doud Schol, a 29-year-old from Sudan, faces two homicide charges in the deaths of Andy Chilimidos, 50, and Darlene Atencio, 45. The couple was from St. Johns.Schol was driving in Tempe early Saturday when police said he crashed into another vehicle and killed Chilimidos and Atencio.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at 2:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Loop 202 near the Priest Drive exit.Arizona Department of Transportation said officials closed the stretch between 52nd Street and Priest Drive for more than five hours. The lanes reopened at about 8 a.m.
