Marine dies after training collapse last week at Pensacola

A Marine Corps student aviator died at Sacred Heart Hospital this weekend, several days after a water survival training accident at Pensacola Naval Air Station.The Marine, 2nd Lt. Patrick Wayland, 24, of Midland, Texas, was pronounced brain dead Friday and was removed from life support about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.Wayland, who was assigned to Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21, was undergoing remedial swim training at the base's water survival school on Aug. 1 when he lost consciousness.
