Valencia, CA : Motorcyclist killed in solo crash on Sierra Highway on Wednesday morning, August 31, 2016

A motorcyclist who died Wednesday morning following a solo crash on Sierra Highway has been identified as a Stevenson Ranch resident, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.

Eighteen-year-old Ethan Robert Goad was traveling eastbound on Sand Canyon Road before 10:48 a.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle, the report said.

According to Newhall CHP, officers were responding to another traffic collision on Sierra Highway, north of Sand Canyon road, when they came across Goad lying against the guardrail on Sand Canyon Road.

Goad was traveling eastbound on Sand Canyon Road when he lost control of his motorcycle. He was ejected from the 1997 Buell bike as it began sliding northbound across the roadway where it impacted a guardrail and traveled into the westbound lane of traffic, the report read. The motorcyclist slid into the guardrail where he came to a stop.

According to CHP, officers immediately notified dispatch and began administering emergency medical services to “establish a faint pulse and assist the rider in respirations.”

Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Richard Licon said LA County Fire units were dispatched to the area and were on scene in three minutes.

The motorcyclist was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital where doctors worked for 33 minutes to save Goad’s life before he was pronounced dead, the report read.

CHP said neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash.
