Richmond, VA : A 52-year-old Chesterfield County man was killed on Thursday, October 5, 2017

A 52-year-old Chesterfield County man was killed early Thursday when the motorcycle he was riding struck a car, which police believe pulled out in front of the motorcycle.

Killed was Gregory D. Adkins of the 8600 block of Pleasant Ridge Road, police said in a release. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The wreck occurred about 6:30 a.m. when Adkins, traveling north on Salem Church Road, struck a 1996 Infiniti sedan, which was making a left turn from Black Oak Road onto Salem Church Road, police said.

Chesterfield police said a preliminary investigation indicates the car pulled out in front of Adkins.

The driver of the car, who wasn't identified, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
