Inkster, MI : Motorcyclist dies after fleeing Inkster cops, crashing into SMART bus on Tuesday, 20th August 2019

A 40-year-old Westland man died Tuesday night after allegedly running a red light in Inkster and crashing his motorcycle into a SMART bus at he tried to flee police, Michigan State Police said.

State police are handling the investigation.

At about 8:45 p.m. when Inkster police saw the biker allegedly run a red light on Middle Belt.

They gave chase, following the bike onto northbound Henry Ruff.

There, the motorcyclist allegedly ran a second red light. But then he crashed into a SMART bus. Medics took him to a hospital, but he died from his injuries.

An Inkster Police Department dash camera recorded the entire pursuit, state police said.

The bus was traveling the Ford Road route, said Beth Gibbons, a spokeswoman for SMART. No one on the bus was injured.
