Half Moon Bay, CA : No serious injuries in head-on collision on Highway 92 Thursday morning, August 18, 2016

A mother and child were taken to the hospital on Thursday morning as a precaution after a head-on collision on Highway 92. The accident was reported at 7:43 a.m. and occurred in the vicinity of the Ox Mountain landfill turnoff.

CHP spokesman Art Montiel said a woman driving a silver sedan eastbound was distracted by a child riding in the back seat and briefly swerved over the double-yellow line. That took her into the path of a plumbing truck that was headed west.

Montiel said preliminary indications were that neither the woman nor the child were badly injured. There were no injuries to anyone in the truck.

“That’s pretty amazing for a head-on collision,” Montiel said.

Traffic came to a standstill in both directions of the morning commute. Traffic was stopped for about an hour as crews worked to remove the vehicles.

Further information about the driver and car involved were not immediately available.
