Antioch, CA : 80-year-old man severely injured in crash near A and West 17th streets on Tuesday morning, August 16, 2016

An 80-year-old man suffered major injuries in a vehicle collision Tuesday morning, police said.

The crash occurred around 9:56 a.m. near A and West 17th streets, according to Antioch police. Both vehicles involved, a truck and an SUV, were severely damaged.

The truck driver, a 80-year-old Antioch man, was hospitalized for major injuries. The SUV driver was treated and released at the scene.

Police said speed was a factor in the collision. Alcohol or drugs did not play a role.
