Mattawa, WA : Two-year-old killed in rollover crash on State Route 243, south of Mattawa on Friday evening, January 29, 2016

A 2-year-old girl was killed early Friday evening when the car she was riding in rolled off the road south of Mattawa, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Omar Ledesma-Adame, 17, was driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica south on State Route 243, about 10 miles south of Mattawa when the accident occurred at 6:26 p.m., the State Patrol said in a news release. The vehicle left the roadway to the right, rolled over and came to rest on its top.

The child, who was not named, died at the scene.

The driver was taken to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, where he was treated and released.

A second passenger, Rosa Maria Adame, 50, was not hurt. All were from Mattawa.

According to the news release, the child was not properly restrained in a child seat, and it is unknown if the two adults wore seat belts.

The cause of the crash, as well as possible charges, remain under investigation, said the patrol, which noted intoxicants were not involved in the crash.
