SOCIAL CIRCLE, GA : Georgia firefighters injured in serious crash on Hawkins Academy Road in Walton County on Friday, 18th January 2019

Two firefighters are recovering after their truck crashed while responding to an emergency in Walton County.

The accident happened just after 12 p.m. Friday on Hawkins Academy Road in Walton County, as a Social Circle fire truck was heading to another incident.

The Georgia State Patrol said the fire truck had its lights and sirens activated as it began negotiating a left turn. That's when the preliminary investigation suggests the passenger-side tires left the road on the right, causing the driver to overcorrect and cross the center line.
