Knoxville, TN : Clinton man injured after motorcycle-utility truck collision on Sunday, 14th August, 2016

A Clinton man is at the University of Tennessee Medical Center after his motorcycle struck a city of Oak Ridge Electric Department utility truck early Sunday morning.

Brandon Wyrick, 21, was treated at the scene by the Oak Ridge Fire Department, then taken to Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after the 6:55 a.m. accident Sunday morning at the intersection of Oak Ridge Turnpike and North Illinois Avenue. He was flown to UT Medical Center Sunday afternoon by LifeStar and is intensive care. His condition was not available.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, which investigated the crash, Wyrick failed to stop at a red traffic light and hit the right front side of the Freightliner utility truck as it traveled through the intersection. Wyrick, who was wearing a helmet, will be charged with failure to stop at a red traffic light and not having a motorcycle endorsement on his driver's license.

The driver of the electric department truck, Stephen Hutton, 28, of Lenoir City was not injured and will not be charged, the THP report said.

The crash closed the intersection and detoured traffic for about four hours.
