A 23-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon when his motorcycle went off Clifton Road in Rapides Parish and crashed into a tree, State Police Troop E reported.
The victim was identified as Kelby D. Magallon of the Clifton community in the western part of Rapides Parish.
Magallon was driving a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle south on Clifton Road at a high rate of speed shortly before 5 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle, which went off the right side of the road and struck a tree, Troop E said.
Magallon, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Troopers from State Police Troop E have investigated 34 fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in 39 fatalities.
