Sabillasville,MD : Two dead, two others injured after collision Sunday on Sabillasville Road on October, Sunday 8th 2017

Maryland State Police said two people were killed and two others were injured in a collision involving two vehicles Sunday afternoon on Sabillasville Road.

At 5:11 p.m., troopers arrived in the 15200 block of Sabillasville Road, where they determined the driver of a 2003 red Toyota Corolla lost control while heading south on Sabillasville Road a short time earlier and swerved into the northbound lane, according to a news release issued late Sunday. A 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck driving north struck the front passenger's side of the Corolla, the release states.

The front seat passenger of the Corolla, 84-year-old Hilda M. Ditch, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:44 p.m., according to the release. The driver of the Corolla, Richard Ditch, 85, was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was pronounced dead.

John William Ditch, 54, who was sitting in the rear passenger's side of the Corolla, was also flown to shock trauma. His injuries were ultimately deemed not life-threatening.

Lastly, 62-year-old Frederick County resident Michael Joseph Miller, who was driving the pickup, was taken by ambulance to Frederick Memorial Hospital, the release states. His injuries were not considered life-threatening at the time the release was issued.

State police determined that Richard Ditch lost control of the Corolla on a sharp downhill left curve, and the car was cited as the at-fault vehicle in the crash. But the collision remained under investigation by reconstruction experts as of late Sunday.

All three people in the Corolla were from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, but the release did not elaborate on their relationship to one another.
