Anchorage, AK : 13 hurt in collision between RV and tour bus on Richardson Highway Sunday morning, August 7, 2016

More than a dozen people were injured on the Richardson Highway Sunday morning, when a tour bus headed to a lodge near Copper Center was rear-ended by a recreational vehicle, Alaska State Troopers reported.

Troopers said in a Monday dispatch that they responded to the crash at Mile 101 of the Richardson, near the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge, shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday.

"(A) 1994 Ford motorhome traveling northbound on the Richardson Highway rear-ended a North Pole Tour bus when it slowed to negotiate a left-hand turn onto a side road," troopers wrote. "The motorhome was being driven by Jesse Johnson, age 47 of Anchorage, and had three passengers. The tour bus had 32 persons on board."

Ground and air ambulances took a total of 13 people to hospitals from the crash, troopers wrote. Troopers spokesman Tim DeSpain didn't have word on the severity of the injuries, or how many people from each vehicle were hospitalized.

There also wasn't any immediate information on whether charges or citations were being considered.

"That part's still under investigation," DeSpain said.

Princess Cruises staff at the lodge said Monday that the bus had been headed to the lodge at the time of the crash.

North Pole Tour's website, written in Korean, offers a variety of air and tour packages in Alaska. A company employee had no immediate comment on the collision Monday afternoon.
