BLUEFIELD ,WV : Tractor trailer hauling pigs crashes on I-77 on June, Wednesday 28th 2017

A tractor trailer hauling pigs has crashed on Interstate 77 near Bluefield.

The crash occurred near mile marker 5.8. along the northbound lane of I-77. The tractor trailer overturned into the median of the interstate.

Pigs can be heard inside of the tractor trailer, according to a Daily Telegraph reporter and photographer on the scene of the crash.

According to Sgt. D.W. Miller, with the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment, the truck driver was not injured.

“He got ran off the road by another truck and another big rig,” Miller said.

Traffic is currently moving in both the north and south bound lanes of I-77.

Additional trailers are being brought in to take away the pigs.

Troopers with the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment are investigating the scene. Crews with the East River Volunteer Fire Department also are on scene.

Firefighters are spraying cold water into the trailer to help keep the pigs cool.
