Vernon, CT : Two people injured in 2-car crash on Route 83 near Merline Road on Monday morning, August 15, 2016

Police said an 84-year-old woman was taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital and a man by ambulance to Rockville General Hospital after a two-vehicle collision late this morning.

Both victims were extricated from the vehicles, according to police.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. on Route 83 near Merline Road.

It appeared one vehicle “T-boned” another, with heavy damage to both vehicles.

Police closed a portion of Route 83 between Merline Road and Vernon Auto Sales, and reopened it to single-lane traffic at around 11:45.
