RED BLUFF,CA : Pedestrian dies in I-5 collision with semi on Friday, 8th February 2019

An Interstate 5 collision between a semi-truck and a pedestrian early Friday morning left the pedestrian dead.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to a call at around 3:09 a.m. Friday regarding the collision, according to a press release issued Friday.

Kenneth Victor Scott, 59, of Red Bluff was laying in the slow lane of southbound I-5 north of the North Main Street exit wearing dark clothing, the release said.

Pardeep Singh Dulay, 29, of Sacramento, was driving a 2014 Freightliner tractor trailer southbound in the slow lane at about 55 miles per hour.

According to the release, the Freightliner hit Scott, causing fatal injuries and closing the right lane as well as the North Main Street off ramp for roughly three and a half hours.

Dulay sustained no injuries as a result of the incident. Drugs and alcohol were not suspected, though the collision is being investigated by Red Bluff CHP.
