Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday after a crash involving three semitrailers on Interstate 57 in Franklin County, according to Illinois State Police district 13.

Three semis driven by Jeffery P. Anglin, 37, of Kennett, Missouri; Terry L. Estes, 58, of Kennett, Missouri; and Brandon L. Johnson, 32, of Blytheville, Arkansas, were northbound on I-57 in the left lane, near milepost 68.5, when Johnson slowed for traffic. Anglin crashed into the rear of Johnson's vehicle, which then caught fire. Estes could not stop in time and crashed into Anglin's vehicle. Anglin and Estes suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

All northbound lanes were closed for about one hour and the Illinois Department of Transportation opened all passing lanes once the fire was put out. Anglin and Estes were cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

West Frankfort Police Department and Fire Department, Benton Fire Department and Abbott's Ambulance Service also assisted.
