A man died after he was ejected from a 2004 Ford Explorer here Thursday evening, the California Highway Patrol announced Friday.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., the unnamed Newberry Springs man was headed east on Silver Valley Road, east of Piute Road, when he made an unsafe left turn at an unknown speed and lost control of the vehicle, according to a CHP statement.
The SUV left the roadway and collided with a dirt embankment, flipping over and landing on its roof The driver, who was “unrestrained” at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said they did not believe drugs and alcohol were involved in the crash.
