Jacksonville, FL : Both drivers killed in head-on, wrong way collision in Jacksonville early Saturday, August 27, 2016

Both drivers died in a wrong way, head-on collision early Saturday on Interstate 95 south of the Main Street Bridge Exit in Jacksonville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Killed in the crash were Levi Walter, 40, of Vancouver, Wash., and the other driver, Robert Upson, 41, of Jacksonville. The crash about 1:13 a.m. happened as Walter drove his pickup truck south in the northbound outside center lane of I-95, and Upson was driving a passenger van northbound in the same outside lane, the Highway Patrol said.

The pickup hit the van head-on. The van spun around, hit a concrete traffic barrier then overturned. Walter died at U.F. Health Jacksonville, while Upson died at the scene. Neither driver had been wearing his safety belt, according to the Highway Patrol.
