Montgomery, AL : 49-year-old Georgia man was killed in a single vehicle crash in Lee county on Friday, October, 6th 2017

A 49-year-old Georgia man was killed in a single vehicle crash in Lee county on Friday night. The crash also left a 14-year-old passenger facing serious injuries. The fatality victim in the crash was a former correctional officer with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Department in Columbus, Georgia.
According to the Lee County Coroner’s Office, at approximately 11:50 p.m. Friday night the Lee County 9-1-1 center received a call relating to a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle in the 2100 block of Lee Road 207 in the city of Smiths Station.
Emergency personnel from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, EAMC EMS, CARE ambulance, the Alabama State Troopers, and Smiths Station Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the accident scene. When they arrived, they discovered a motorcycle that was traveling north on the roadway had struck a tree and ejected the driver from the vehicle.
The driver of the crashed motorcycle was identified as 49-year-old Timothy “Tim” Scot Delbridge, of Columbus, Georgia. As emergency workers attended to Delbridge they discovered he had no signs of life. Lee County Coroner Bill Harris responded to the accident scene and pronounced Delbridge dead on the scene.
In addition to Delbridge being involved in the crash, a 14-year-old passenger was also injured in the crash. The coroner’s office confirms she had multiple injuries, but did not comment on the extent of her injuries. She was transported to Midtown Medical Center in nearby Columbus, Georgia for treatment.
Delbridge had previously worked in law enforcement. The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office confirms Delbridge had previously been employed with the department as a correctional officer at the county jail. The department took to its social media page to announce the death of Delbridge and to offer prayers to his family.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Lee County Coroner’s Office and Alabama State Troopers. The cause of death for Delbridge has been listed as multiple blunt force impact injuries. Investigators confirm that alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the accident.
