Sarasota, FL : Three injured in fiery crash on University Parkway in Sarasota on Friday morning, July 25, 2014

Two Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputies helped save the front seat passenger from one of three vehicles involved in crash that injured three on Friday morning on University Parkway in Sarasota.

At 8:35 a.m., a 2002 Saturn L100 was heading eastbound on University Parkway near the intersection of Whitfield Avenue, and a 2003 Chevy Silverado was directly in front of it and stopped for traffic, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2012 Honda Accord also heading east on University Parkway was stopped in front of the Chevy.

The driver of the Saturn failed to stop in time, crashing into the Chevy, which then was pushed into the Honda.

The Saturn burst into flames

after running into the truck, according to the sheriff's office. The 65-year-old driver did manage to get out of the car, but the 57-year-old front seat passenger was trapped and unconscious.

Sheriff's deputies Dan Durrance and Chris Folds were able to pull her out, and she was taken by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

The driver was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton with serious injuries.

The 44-year-old driver of the Chevy was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, while the 71-year-old driver of the Honda had no injuries, according to a release.

Careless driving citations were issued.
