Rush Township, PA : Elsie man killed in crash in Shiawassee County on North Smith Road, near West Epton Road on Sunday, 18th August 2019 1 hour ago

An Elsie man was killed in a one-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Shiawassee County, police said.

Mark Walter, 59, was driving south on North Smith Road, near West Epton Road, just after 10 p.m. Sunday when he left the road and struck a tree, Shiawassee County Sheriff's Lt. Cory Carson said.

Walter was pronounced dead at the scene, Carson said.

Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
