WILLISTON, ND : 58-year-old Williston man dies in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 2 in the city on Wednesday 24th October 2018

A 58-year-old Williston man died when his vehicle left the road early Wednesday morning and hit a stop sign, utility pole and fence on U.S. Highway 2 in the city.

His name has not yet been released.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said that at about 3:20 a.m. the man's 2007 Cadillac Escalade, after stopping at an intersection, veered across lanes on the highway and entered the ditch striking the sign, pole and fence before vaulting over an embankment. It landed in an open field on its wheels. However, the Patrol said the driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
