Ruskin, FL : Man dies in one-car wreck on U.S. 41 in Ruskin on Sunday night, November 9, 2014

A 32-year-old Ruskin man died Sunday evening when he lost control of his car on U.S. 41 and crashed into a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. James Michael Hartman was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus in the southbound lanes near Fourth Street SW in Ruskin, troopers said, when another driver turned left onto the road in front of him. Hartman apparently tried to swerve out of the way, according to state troopers' reports, and his car spun off the roadway, hitting one tree then another. The crash happened about 7:04 p.m., troopers said. A passenger in Hartman's car, Amanda Ward, 18, of Carmi, Ill., suffered minor injuries, according to the FHP.
