Weber County,UT : Weber County woman dead, man in critical condition after car crash on November, Tuesday 21th 2017

A Tuesday afternoon car crash in Weber County killed one and has left another in “extremely critical” condition, police say.

At about 3:40 p.m., police were called to 1800 W. 12th Street in Marriott-Slaterville for a hit-and-run call, according to Sgt. Matt Jensen with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. Jensen said the vehicle hit the back of another car then continued down the road.

Minutes later, police got another call of car crash down the road near 4400 W. 1150 South in unincorporated Weber County near West Weber, Jensen said.

When police arrived, they found a car had rolled and landed near trees. Jensen said the car was traveling at speeds exceeding 60 mph.

A 32-year-old woman from Weber County — believed to be the passenger — was pronounced dead at the scene. A 33-year-old male, believed to be the driver, was airlifted to a local hospital via AirCare helicopter in “extremely critical” condition, Jensen said.

Heavy rescue crews were needed to get them out of the vehicle.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crashes, which were connected, Jensen said.

Traffic on 12th Street near the crash will be closed in both until at least 8 p.m. if not longer, Jensen said.
