WEST PALM BEACH, FL : Bicyclist, 52, killed in West Palm-area wreck on Wednesday, 19th February, 2020

Authorities have identified a 52-year-old man as the bicyclist killed Wednesday evening in a crash outside the West Palm Beach city limits.

Eric Nylund died shortly after 6:30 p.m. after being hit by a car on Military Trail, just north of its intersection with Okeechobee Boulevard, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Nylund rode a bicycle east across Military Trail near the intersection with Marguerita Drive, crossing in front of the 2013 Mercedes C350 that 19-year-old Zachary Fix was driving north.

Fix swerved to avoid Nylund, but hit the back tire of the bike. He also sideswiped the passenger side of a 2020 Ford F-150 in the lane next to him, deputies said.
