Temple, TX : Pedestrian killed in Troy crash on Monday, October, 23rd 2017

The Troy Police Department and the Troy Volunteer fire Department responded to a crash about 9:30 p.m. Monday between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the northbound lane of the 1600 block of Central Avenue, which is the frontage road to Interstate 35 just south of Lely Drive, according to Troy Police.

Upon arrival officers found a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup had struck the pedestrian as the he was walking in or near the roadway. Bystander CPR was being performed as first responders arrived; however, EMS personnel quickly determined the pedestrian was deceased.

The driver of the pickup was at the scene and was attempting to aid the injured party. The deceased man has not been formally identified and no next of kin notification has been made. He does not appear to be a local resident.

Justice of the Peace G. W. Ivey pronounced the man dead. No autopsy has been ordered.

At this time Troy Police Department does not anticipate any charges will be filed against the driver of the pickup, though the investigation of the crash continues.
