Beaumont,TX : Intoxicated driver steals and crashes patrol car on January, Sunday 7th 2018

An alleged intoxicated driver was arrested early Sunday morning after stealing a patrol car in Orange County and crashing it in Louisiana, according to Texas Department of Public Safety.

A DPS Trooper in Orange County pulled over 28-year-old Eric Parker of Denton for suspected intoxicated driving down Interstate 10, according to a DPS statement from Sgt. Stephanie Davis.

Parker was handcuffed and placed in the back of the patrol car around 1:30 a.m. but DPS believes Parker was able to remove his cuffs and get behind the wheel.

The suspect allegedly drove away from the scene and headed into Louisiana. He struck a guardrail around 2 a.m. and was arrested by the Lake Charles Police Department for felony evading, according to the statement.

Texas DPS was also assisted by the Orange Police Department and the Louisiana State Police. The investigation is ongoing and Parker is likely to face additional charges, the statement said.
