83-year-old Franklin woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash

State police say an 83-year-old Franklin woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash after she failed to yield at a stop sign on La. 182 at U.S. 90.

Trooper Stephen Hammons says Shirley Landry was southbound on La. 182 Monday when she stopped at a two-way stop sign then entered La. 90 and was hit by a van driven by 42-year-old Kelly Shepard, of Tomball, Texas.

Hammons said Landry was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner.

Shepard and his passenger, Renan Almendars of Houston, sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
