Arundel, ME : One man injured after his motorcycle struck a utility pole on Old Post Road on Wednesday night July 23rd 2014

An Arundel man was injured Wednesday night after his motorcycle struck a utility pole on Old Post Road.

Shawn Biggar, 47, of Arundel, was driving a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole, said William King, chief deputy of the York County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s Deputies along with Arundel Fire Rescue responded to Old Post Road, in the area of Route 1, around 6 p.m., Wednesday, King said, and found Biggar conscious but severely injured. Biggar, who King said was not wearing his helmet, was transported to Maine Medical Center in serious condition.

King said Wednesday morning that Biggar’s condition was last reported as non-life threatening.

The York County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the crash, King said. He said speed is considered to be a factor.
