Bedford, NH : Man suffered serious, life-threatening injuries in a crash on Route 101 on Monday evening August 25th 2014

Police said a Manchester man suffered serious, life-threatening injuries in a crash on Route 101 in Bedford Monday. Police said the 20-year-old man was driving west when his 1999 Ford Contour crossed the center line at about 5:15 p.m., hit a landscaping trailer and then slammed head-on into an oncoming pickup truck. Emergency crews had to cut the roof off the Contour in order to free the driver from the wreckage. He was first taken to a local hospital and then flown to an out-of-state hospital for treatment. His condition was not known Tuesday morning. The driver of the truck, a 49-year-old woman from Bedford, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic on Route 101 was detoured for about two hours while emergency crews investigated and cleared the scene. The cause of the crash was still under investigation early Tuesday.
