Honolulu, HI : 2-car crash closes highway lanes on Kauai on Tuesday, July 4, 2017

Police closed two lanes of Kuhio Highway in Wailua on Kauai this morning after an SUV collided with a bus.

The collision occurred around 7:30 a.m. near Marine Camp Road when a Toyota SUV heading north crossed the center line and sideswiped a 16-passenger bus, according to Kauai County spokeswoman Kim Tamaoka.

The driver of the SUV was seriously injured. The bus driver and his two passengers received minor injuries. Paramedics transported all four men to the hospital for treatment., Tamaoka said.

Police closed two lanes of Kuhio Highway to conduct their investigation. Southbound traffic is being rerouted through the Wailua Cane Haul Road while northbound traffic is bumped to the outer northbound lane of the highway.
