Lasvegas, NV : Scooter rider killed in crash in east valley on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017

A scooter rider was killed this afternoon after she was struck by a car whose driver ran a red light on an east valley roadway, according to Metro Police.

The rider, a 62-year-old Las Vegas woman, died at University Medical Center, police said.

The 17-year-old driver of the 2016 Nissan Sentra involved in the crash was not injured or impaired, police said. His passenger suffered minor injuries.

Officers were dispatched about 12:40 p.m. to Bonanza Road and Linn Lane, Officer Aden Ocampo-Gomez said.

The woman was crossing the intersection on a green light when she was struck by the Nissan, which was westbound on Bonanza and had ran a red light, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
