1 killed, 1 injured in Highway 85 collision in North Dakota

One person was killed Friday afternoon in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 85 about 24 miles north of Belfield, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reports.According to the highway patrol, at 3:15 p.m., a passenger car traveling south on Highway 85 attempted to pass some vehicles in a no-passing zone when it struck a 2000 Sterling propane truck head-on in the northbound lane. Both vehicles caught on fire after the impact.The driver of the passenger car, 36-year-old Kenneth Serr of Wichita, Kan., was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the propane truck, 32-year-old Justin Reynolds of Eagle River, Wis., was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson for a medical evaluation. The highway patrol reports that no propane leaked or caught on fire.The crash remains under investigation. Highway 85 remained closed Friday evening with traffic being routed to side roads.
