New Orleans, LA : 56-year-old Franklinton man killed in high-speed crash on spillway in St. Charles Parish on Friday night, November 28, 2014

A Franklinton man was pronounced dead after he was ejected from his pickup truck following a two-vehicle crash on the Bonnet Carre Spillway in St. Charles Parish Friday night. Louisiana State Police say three other people had minor injuries. The St. Charles Parish coroner's office pronounced 56-year-old Darrell Magee dead at the scene. The crash occurred about 10:40 p.m. at mile marker 214. State Police say Magee's truck collided with a car, continued onto the right shoulder of the interstate, hit the guardrail and then veered back and hit the car again. Both vehicles came to a stop in the right-hand lane. Police say Magee was ejected from the truck. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
