Blue Springs,MO : One dead from two-vehicle crash night on June, Sunday 18th 2017

A two-vehicle crash Sunday night in Independence killed one of the drivers.

The crash occurred about 11 p.m. Sunday on Missouri 78 (23rd Street) at Powell Road. According to Independence police, a 2014 Ford Focus was traveling east on M-78 when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound 2006 Dodge Caravan. The driver of the Focus, a 27-year-old male, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s name has not yet been released pending family notification. The driver and passengers of the Dodge Caravan were transported to hospitals with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.
