JACKSON TOWNSHIP, OH : Semi accidents close I-76 lanes on Thursday, December, 14th 2017

A crash involving two semi-tractor trailers closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 76 near the Bailey Road exit for about two hours late Wednesday and early Thursday morning.

The Canfield post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported a westbound 2014 Freightliner lost control about 11 p.m. Wednesday and traveled off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail. The rig was disabled partially on the roadway and the driver exited his vehicle, the report states.

Moments later, a 2018 Volvo rig also westbound struck the disabled Freightliner, causing the rig to be pushed into the driver, who was standing nearby.

Both drivers, who were not identified, were taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, with the driver of the Volvo sustaining more serious injuries. The crash is still under investigation, the report states.
