The Spartanburg County coroner responded to a wreck on I-85 Thursday evening.
South Carolina Highway Patrol said a 2012 Ford Focus ran off the road and slammed into a parked tractor trailer, killing the driver of the car at the scene.
The wreck happened in the northbound lane near mile-marker 60, according to troopers. That's near the exit for Highway 101.
They said the crash happened around 5:41 p.m.
Troopers said the roadway was blocked for a while as they investigated.
The coroner's office has not yet released the name of the driver killed.
