Greeley, CO : 18-year-old Milliken man identified as driver of motorcycle on April, Saturday 15th 2017

An 18-year-old Milliken man was identified as the motorcycle driver who died in a late-night traffic crash Saturday in LaSalle.

According to Weld County Coroner Carl Blesch, the man's name is Adam Richardson. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, at the intersection of Colo. 394 and 5th Street, on the northern edge of LaSalle.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Tim Sutherland, just before 11 p.m. the driver of the motorcyle, later identified as Richardson, was riding west on a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle on Colo. 394 when he approached the intersection with 5th Street. A 2011 Hyundai Sonata was making a left turn from the highway onto 5th Street as Richardson approached. Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid later identified the Hyundai's driver as 22-year-old Kalie Parshall of Evans. It appears Richardson tried to brake, Sutherland said, but the bike spun onto its left side and struck the Hyundai.

Sutherland confirmed the motorcycle's female passenger was taken to North Colorado Medical Center with serious injuries. Reid on Monday identified her as Haley Hannah, 21, of Berthoud.

Troopers don't believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, Sutherland said. They believe the collision was caused by excessive speed,Reid said, but they do not know what that speed might have been.

Richardson's Facebook page reveals he attended Roosevelt High School in Johnstown. The social media site also states his family is involved with Nix and Sons Sporting Goods, a firearm store at 904 Broad St. in Milliken.

Richardson was the 13th person to die as a result of crashes on Weld County roads and highways this year. Through this date last year, eight people had died.
