IRVING, TX : Irving police officer killed in motorcycle crash on Friday, 12th August, 2016

A 19-year veteran of the Irving police force was killed Friday morning in a motorcycle crash, police reported.

Officer Mark Stephen Dahl, 54, was apparently on his way to work shortly before 6 a.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle in the 7800 block of Valley View Lane at Interstate 635 in Irving.

Dahl was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

No other vehicles were involved.

“There was a witness who saw him go down so we are hoping to get some more information about the cause,” said James McLellan, an Irving police spokesman.

Before joining the Irving police, Dahl was a deputy with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete Friday
