FREEMAN, SD : Two men injured in Freeman four-wheeler vs. motorcycle crash on Friday, August 11, 2017

Two men sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries in a motorcycle versus four-wheeler crash near Freeman on Friday.

Mark Hinckley, a 53-year-old Freeman man, was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital after the 2014 Polaris Sportsman 570 four-wheeler he was driving collided with a motorcycle eight miles west of Freeman. Charges are pending against Hinckley, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

The 59-year-old driver of the 1995 Kawasaki Voyager X motorcycle does not face charges and his name was not released by authorities.

While driving northbound at approximately 2:13 p.m. on 431st Avenue near 278th Street, the motorcyclist collided with the four-wheeler that exited from a field on the east side of 431st Avenue.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and was transported to a Freeman hospital. Hinckley was not wearing a helmet.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and others on scene included the Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office, Freeman Fire and Ambulance and Avera Careflight.
