Hanover, PA : Man injured after motorcycle, deer crash in Franklin Township on Tuesday night, August 30, 2016

A man was airlifted to York Hospital following a crash involving a motorcycle and a deer around 8 p.m. Tuesday night, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Philip Cole, 71, of Orrtanna was driving west on Mount Carmel Road in Franklin Township when a deer entered the road, police report.

The motorcycle crashed into the deer, causing the motorcycle to leave the road.

Philip Cole was flown to York Hospital with a possible serious head injury. His passenger, Diane Cole, 71, of Orrtanna was taken to York Hospital with moderate injuries, according to the police report.

Both riders were wearing helmets.

The road was closed for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.

As of Wednesday morning, both riders were in satisfactory condition, according to a representative for York Hospital.
