A Ware Shoals man died Sunday night after a car hit him while he was riding a moped, according to officials.
Timothy Lee Wood, 44, of Cemetery Road, Ware Shoals died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday after being hit on U.S. Highway 25, said Laurens County Deputy Coroner Vickie Cheek.
Wood was driving a moped north along Highway 25 Sunday when, near Maddox Bridge Road, the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet Impala hit the moped from behind, said Lance Cpl. Garry Miller with the state Highway Patrol.
Wood died at the scene of the wreck, Miller said, and the driver of the Impala had minor injuries.
