A Webster man was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Iowa this morning.

Darwin Knutson, 50, was southbound on Interstate 29 roughly a mile north of the Blendcoe exit about halfway between Sioux City and Council Bluffs at 6:24 a.m., according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol. He was in the left lane.

A tow truck was partially in the left lane, with warning lights on, attempting to remove a vehicle from the median, according to the report. Knutson struck the right rear of the tow truck and went off the roadway to the right and into a farm field, according to the report.

It is unknown why Knutson did not move over, according to the report.

A semi behind Knutson also hit the tow truck, but stopped in the right lane of the interstate, according to the report.

Knutson was taken to Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa, where he died, according to the report. He was wearing a seat belt.
