Steele, AL : 44-year-old Joshua Goodwyn dead, 1 injured after wreck in Etowah County on Thursday evening, January 7, 2016

The Etowah County Coroner's Office says a construction worker died Thursday evening after being struck along I-59 northbound between Steele and Attalla.

All northbound lanes were shut down for several hours while troopers and authorities responded.

According to the Etowah County Coroner Michael Head, a car struck a construction worker, 44-year-old Joshua Goodwyn of Hanceville.

Head says Goodwyn was reported dead at the scene. Another worker was airlifted to UAB Hospital but his injuries are reported to be non life-threatening.

The coroner says the men were removing barrels from the roadway after finishing a day of construction on some new guardrails on I-59.
