Two people were flown to area hospitals and one driver was taken to jail following a multiple-vehicle wreck on U.S. 81/287 in the New Fairview area Friday afternoon.According to preliminary information provided by Department of Public Safety spokesperson Sgt. Ricky Hunter, around 2:15 p.m., a Ford F-350 driven recklessly by 65-year-old Frederick Hindman of Fort Worth was northbound on U.S. 81/287 near Farm Road 407 when he passed a GMC Denali and then attempted to change lanes in front of the GMC.
“The Ford struck the right front of the GMC as it attempted to change lanes. The collision caused the GMC to travel across the center median and into the southbound lanes of traffic. The GMC then struck a 2003 Chevrolet pickup head-on,” Hunter said.

Two helicopters were called to the scene as southbound U.S. 81/287 was completely shut down.

The driver of the GMC, Brooke Krebs, 34, of Decatur sustained serious injuries and was flown by PHI to a Denton hospital. A 3-year-old passenger in the GMC was not injured.
