A St. John man was taken to a local hospital Monday after he was ejected from a motorcycle during a crash on a ramp to the Borman Expressway, police said.

Kyle Higgins, 25, was driving a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle south on Indianapolis Boulevard to eastbound Interstate 80/94 about 6:25 pm. when he lost control, Indiana State Police Sgt. Ann Wojas said.

Higgins was thrown from the motorcycle and landed about 50 feet away, on Indianapolis Boulevard under a bridge, she said. The motorcycle came to rest on the ramp.

Higgins, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary, police said.
